Adobe Photoshop is a professional image editing software package that can be used by experts and novices alike. Photoshop is used for editing images for Internet, print, and other new media disciplines. Serving since past five years it has been embraced by more than a million graphic artists, print designers, visual communicators, and regular people like you. Almost every picture you see around you (be that Book cover, magazine, poster, brochure or anything) is either created or edited by Photoshop. The powerful tools of Photoshop are not only capable of enhancing and editing pictures but they can also be used in the digital world including the infinite possibilities of the Internet.
1-Not Using Pen Tool For Extraction
Pen Tool is a great tool. But unfortunately a lot of people still hesitate to use it, and use easy selection and extraction methods like quick select, lasso and magic wand. Here I really do not mean to offend those who use these tools, but it is better to use Pen Tool, to give your image a sleek edge. Try using Pen Tool for once and I can assure you will definitely use them next time as well!
2-Think K=100 is Black….check again
If you are also one of those (including me) who think K=100 in CMYK is black, then you might want to check again. Because it is not black but dark grey. Although you can use it in writing but when it comes to backgrounds, I would suggest you to use Rich Black instead. I think C=90 M=60 Y=30 K=100 would be better….try using this next time you will definitely get a better black!
3-No Shortcut, No Photoshop
Shortcuts are your buddies……trust me. They help you save a lot valuable time and increase your workflow. You can even make your own Photoshop shortcuts by using “Edit > Keyboard shortcut”….its that simple
4-No Layers and Folders….(a big mistake)
Layers and Folders are really important in Photoshop. Unfortunately a number of new users fail to understand this, but they regret it later. You can never produce or edit an awesome image in Photoshop unless you use layers. Layers help you edit, delete, duplicate etc easily.
It is even better if you name your layers and put them in folders, especially when you are working on a large PSDs file or if you are a web designer. It will help you navigate around projects easily and save time.
5-Over Using Filters
If you really want to look like a professional then trust me you should stop Overusing or misusing filters. Even though they are easy to use and fun to play around with but trust me they give you a look of amateur….which I really think is not good.
So try using them as less as possible.
